SYNOPSIS:
Deciphering the various fractions who stormed the Capitol on January 6th, 2021 can lead to some important clue context that can be traced to the foundational beliefs of the Qanon conspiracy influence campaign. To truly understand how the connections fit you must dive into the symbology ideology that perpetuates the movement. By doing so in turn you can get to the root beliefs and motives behind the driving momentum of the movements.
FOCUS POINT:
- Qanon, the major conspiracy behind assault intertwines through various levels of information channels. Websites such as Qanon.pub, The Daily Stormer, 8kun, and reddit, act as open forums for discussion and exchanging of meme’s or ideas. The central theme of Qanon is a play on the Illuminati and the new world order conspiracy. The main difference being an “elite cabal of celebrity pedophiles, adrenochrome harvesting, and Donald Trump being the only one to save them all while dealing with a contentious deep state”.
- Qanon’s significant connections to PSY-Group can be traced back to the symbology of The Lion of Judah. During the storming of the Capitol banners and flags carrying the lion were on full display. VDARE or Virginia Dare gets its name from the supposed first “white” child born in the new world. PSY-Group is a defunct Isreli company whose CEO Joel Zamel pitched numerous times to the Trump campaign on the company’s ability to get Trump elected. One proposal titled Project Rome gave Donald Trump code name The Lion.

Stop the steal, The Storm, Michael Flynn, Dominion machines, and red pills
- Roger Stone’s political action committee in 2016 launched a website called “Stop the Steal”, a fundraiser for the election. Asking for donations in excess of $10,000 some of them even stating “if the election is close THEY WILL STEAL IT”. Disgraced General Michael Flynn posted himself “taking the oath” to Qanon to his social media on July 4th, 2020. Sydney Powell, an attorney who represented Flynn has repeatedly spread Qanon conspiracies and has consistently claimed wide spread voting fraud through the use of Dominion voting machines without any evidence. Before the insurrection Qanon believers often used the phrase “the storm is coming”, a non specific ominous threat used to deter critics.

- All of this intertwines within the depths of internet subculture and open discussion forum pages such as r/incels where the term “red pilling” also used by Qanon believers plays a central theme. The term is stripped from The Matrix film series as the main character takes a red pill in order to break through the illusion of a computer generated world dubbed “Matrix”. In these online forums and sites the central theme of The Matrix is thus warped to fit the narrative that breaking through the illusion of empathy and socially acceptable norms is taking the ``red pill’’, and that once you have you can now see that your very livelihood is under threat. including your sexuality, masculinity, religious beliefs, and perception of reality.
CURRENT EVENTS
- Influence campaigns continue to shape the narrative and discussion around election fraud, Capitol riots, Biden’s agenda.
- Most recently there were targeted influence campaigns against AOC and her recounting of the riots and Greta Thunberg after throwing her support for Indian farmers.
- Through the use of the tags #AlexandriaOcasioSmollett and #GretaThunbergExposed we were able to connect the two campaings.
- The Gamestop frenzy is a side effect of past and current influence campaigning.
FINAL SUMMARY:
While the subject of Qanon is a broad discussion it is not hard to fit together how the storming of the Capitol was achieved. As a culmination of four years of rhetoric from political leaders, manipulation of sentiment through news and media sources, and the unchecked hate filled manifestos created a perfect storm for animosity to explode. While the forces that drove the conspiracy on several fronts it was the overwhelming theme of negativity that tapped into the minds and sentiments of its audience. These beliefs and belief systems became an unchecked bias source of disinformation that has now proven to have deadly and violent consequences. It is clear now more than ever that disinformation while playing a factor on a massive scale to achieve specific goals by any means necessary approach.
